A warm welcome to Kuopio

It is a great matter of honor for us in Kuopio to host the European Healthy Cities Technical & Business Conference on 24-26 June 2015.

Kuopio is a growing and developing city in Finland, and thus provides an excellent business environment for organisations operating globally and locally. Kuopio and its Science Park is a nationally and internationally recognized Centre of Expertise in the fields of health, environment and well-being, all supported by ICT.

Health in all policies is the main procedure in the city of Kuopio. Health of citizens is not just the concern of social and health professionals but a lot wider entity that affects people’s lives. For example we have worked toward using of new innovations in the field of health promotion and brought new instructions to develop the practices in health services. The goal of health care in the city of Kuopio is to provide mental and physical functional capacity and health and long life. The primary goal is in preventative health care, meaning that the citizens are also encouraged to take responsibility for their own health.

Kuopio has been a member in WHO Healthy Cities network since 2005. By cooperating and exchanging good practices in this great European network, we are all working together to improve health for all and leadership for health.

You are warmly welcome to Kuopio, the most northern Healthy City in Europe!  And the timing couldn’t be better: in addition to the high-profile centre of expertise, you get to see the white midsummer nights when sun never sets.
